Week 3- KidLit TV

Hi everyone, This week I chose to explore KidLit TV. This was a really great application that I wish existed when I was younger. For me reading was never fun or exciting. Very few books really made me want to read and to this day the only book I would really read for fun is my favorite book of all time "Green Eggs and Ham." This is because I am dyslexic which makes it very challenging for me to read and more importantly hard for me to really understand what I'm reading. This a common learning disorder that I didn't even know I had until middle school. By then I just thought I wasn't smart enough to know how to read well. My mom bought hooked on phonics to help me but It didn't really. I think this application would've been a great way to keep me from completely giving up on books altogether. Books for me were never fun they were alway work for me to just get through and I never had the same experiences like other kids had when they would get lost in the s...

Week 2 - Khan Academy Kids

Hi Everyone,       This week was very interesting reading about information literacy and information seeking behaviour. This week I decided to try out Khan Academy Kids App. This chose this App because I've used Khan Academy in my academic studies for years. Those videos really helped me out in undergrad a lot so I was curious to see what this app was about. After playing around with this app for a little I can really see how this would help young kids with school. The activities are easy to follow and engaging for younger kids. This app could be used in schools, libraries, and even homes to help keep younger students on track with their schoolwork. Students can use this app to help them practice what they have learned in school and see what they may need help in. Teachers could use this app as a way to help students practice what they've learned in a fun and interesting app that could also show teachers what some students are struggling with and what students ...

Week 1 - Teachbooks

Hello everyone my name is Janeane welcome to my first blog ever. Please bare with me as I learn to navigate and create a blog. This is my 4th semester in this program and I am loving this journey so far and can't wait for start this career. This week the web-based application that I chose to explore was teachingbooks. This was a really simple and easy application to navigate. You just put in the book you are interested in and the application will pull up information about the author, potential lessons, activities, and guides for teaching the book, videos and audio of the book being read, and awards the book may have achieved. I found this application very useful being a substitute teacher. I could use this application to as lessons for the classes in case the teacher doesn't leave work for the students to do. This application was very easy and simple to navigate. I would recommend this application to teachers that need some help coming up with a lesson for a specific book. I c...
