Week 3- KidLit TV
Hi everyone,
This week I chose to explore KidLit TV. This was a really great application that I wish existed when I was younger. For me reading was never fun or exciting. Very few books really made me want to read and to this day the only book I would really read for fun is my favorite book of all time "Green Eggs and Ham." This is because I am dyslexic which makes it very challenging for me to read and more importantly hard for me to really understand what I'm reading. This a common learning disorder that I didn't even know I had until middle school. By then I just thought I wasn't smart enough to know how to read well. My mom bought hooked on phonics to help me but It didn't really. I think this application would've been a great way to keep me from completely giving up on books altogether. Books for me were never fun they were alway work for me to just get through and I never had the same experiences like other kids had when they would get lost in the story. This application is a fun way to start younger kids off with reading. They provide many fun and interesting videos kids can listen to the creator of the story explain how they came up with the idea for the book or they could watch read along videos and have sing alongs as well. This application really brings reading to life and would provide a good place for teachers to help students that may be struggling with reading or finding a new book to read. They even have book trailers to help students decide if a book would be interesting to them. This application really made me think about how it could've been different for me if I had this when I was younger.
