Week 5- iCell

 Hi Everyone,

This week I chose iCell as my web application to explore. I was inspired by the classes I've been assisting with as a substitute teacher for the last week or so. In the past week my classes have been learning about cells and the different parts of the cell and I observed that a lot of the children were not really engaged or following along with the teacher as the teacher taught about the different parts of the cell and what each parts function was in the cell. That is where iCell could help. iCell is an application that teachers can use to show a 3-D interactive image of a cell. Students can click on a part of the cell and there would be a description of what that part is and what it does. There are also different difficulty levels for the descriptions. This can be used for different grade levels. There is a basic, intermediate, and advanced level. Teachers can pick which level would be appropriate for their grade level and this would be a fun and interesting way to teach students about cells without boring them with definitions and lectures alone. This application can help students that are more visual learners and keep them focused and on task while they zoom in and out of the cell and interact with all the parts of the cell and learn what they do for the cell. That is all I have for this week can't wait to explore another fun and interesting application next week.
